Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Lisa Cassileth founded the Bedford Breast Center with Dr. Leslie Memsic to give breast cancer patients premiere care and exceptional surgical results. She specializes in complex breast revision surgery and is best known as one of the top breast reconstruction surgeons in the Los Angeles area.
Professional Accomplishments
In 2004, Dr. Cassileth launched her private plastic and reconstructive surgery practice, Cassileth Plastic Surgery, which has grown into a large group practice with four surgeons and a medical spa. She is the former Clinical Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center – a position she held for two consecutive terms. Dr. Cassileth mentors and trains surgical residents in the breakthrough breast reconstruction methods she has pioneered.
Innovator of Breast Reconstruction Techniques
Dr. Cassileth is the creator of several pivotal breast revision and breast reconstruction procedures. She developed one-stage breast reconstruction, now the standard of care for breast cancer patients. This procedure eliminates the need for multiple surgeries for mastectomy patients, allowing them to wake from surgery with their reconstructed breasts. More recently, she worked with Dr. Heather Richardson to develop SWIM breast reconstruction, a technique that recreates the breast without breast implants.
She has gained renown for her accomplishments in the field of breast reconstruction revision (repair of earlier reconstruction surgeries that have failed due to cancer treatments or other causes) and is considered one of the top breast cancer surgeons worldwide.
