Kara-Lee Pool, MD

Radiologist

Kara-Lee Pool, MD is a dedicated Radiologist with expertise in interventional breast radiology, pediatric imaging, and global health. She is deeply passionate about improving healthcare access and quality in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Pool’s extensive research has contributed to numerous publications and book chapters, focusing on breast radiology, pediatric imaging, global health, and infectious diseases. Her work has been featured in respected journals such as JAMA and The Lancet.

After completing her training at NYU and UCLA, she joined the UCLA faculty as a research-funded Global Health expert and Breast/Pediatric radiologist.   More recently, Dr. Pool joined the staff at Torrance Memorial Hospital of Cedars-Sinai Health as a consulting Interventional Breast Radiologist. She is now excited to bring her expertise to the Bedford Breast Center. 

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Pool is an award-winning documentary film producer, serves as a journal editor for the Journal of Global Radiology, and works as a medical consultant for Becton Dickinson. She is an internationally recognized lecturer, having presented at esteemed organizations such as the World Health Organization and the Society of Breast Imaging.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Pool enjoys tennis, surfing, and rock climbing.  What brings her the most joy is traveling and exploring the world with her husband and two sons.
